Common Situations in Today's Business Environment
Contractors have become an integral part of every company's staffing strategy. Contractors provide the flexibility in staffing needed to accommodate a changing economy, to handle temporary increases in workload, to efficiently launch new projects, and to discover new approaches to problems from industry experts acting as consultants. Here are a few questions you might want to ask yourself. Surprisingly, contractors can be the answer.

Do you have a hiring freeze now that prohibits you from hiring a permanent employee?
Do you have a special project or deadline that you need to meet?
Do you need to reduce IRS risk associated with 1099 independent contractors?
Do you want to evaluate a candidate's skills prior to offering him or her a permanent position?
Do you need workers to keep up with the demand, but don't want to add to your permanent staff?
Do you want to avoid layoffs and bad press?

Industry demand for contract staffing is continuing to grow. Here are some of the most common reasons why companies of all sizes are using contract staffing services:

1) Staffing Flexibility - Contractors provide a flexible supply of labor and allow you to effectively match your workload to your workforce.

2) Budget Constraint Circumvention - Funds for contractors usually come from a different pool of money. As a result, your company can use an alternate budget to bring on contractors and still get the job done even when your firm is experiencing a budget constraint.

3) Headcount Issues - Even if you have a current hiring freeze, contractors can become your most feasible alternative. Many contractors can convert to permanent employees when and if you desire.

4) End of Assignment Flexibility - When your requirements diminish, you can easily adjust your labor supply. No layoffs, bad press, or lasting labor burden.

5) Hire for a Specific Project or Purpose - Contractors can be hired for a specific purpose or specific project. Contractors are ideal because they are available as needed.

6) Immediate Availability - Unlike permanent employees, contractors are typically available on short notice. Usually within days of your "announcement of need."

7) Try Before You Buy (Temp-to-Perm) - Contracting provides an opportunity to "test drive" a potential permanent hire before you make a long-term commitment.

8) Avoid IRS Scrutiny From 1099 Issues - In recent years, the IRS has begun to realize the large sums of potential tax revenue they are losing due to misclassified 1099 independent contractors who should legally be W-2 employees. The employee tax deductions include: federal and state income tax, and social security and Medicare. In addition, if Top Echelon Contracting handles the back-office, we will pay all of the necessary employer taxes, including social security and Medicare, federal and state unemployment tax, and workers' compensation.

Why should you outsource your contract staffing?
Turning Point Inc. utilizes Top Echelon Contracting, Inc., as its full service "back-office." Turning Point Inc. is considered to be the "front-office" and will be your main point of contact for all of your recruiting needs. Top Echelon becomes the legal Employer of Record for the contractor you select. They handle the payroll, taxes, insurance, benefits, invoicing, and all other administrative matters. By combining the efforts of Turning Point Inc. and Top Echelon Contracting Inc., we can offer full-service staffing and unsurpassed value to our clients.

Payrolling for professionals (Employer of Record™)
In a traditional payrolling situation, clients have located their own contract candidate, but do NOT want to add him/her to their own payroll. Clients need a back-office provider to become a legal W-2 Employer of Record™ for the contract employee (to reduce costs and eliminate a variety of paperwork issues, benefit problems, liability, exposure, etc.). We offer a one-of-a-kind tool called the Employer of Record™ Rate Calculator. This unique tool will allow you to calculate Bill Rates and Pay Rates for a contract assignment anywhere in the United States. This tool will be available on our website in the near future.

Simple weekly process
Our weekly process for clients is extremely easy! Sign a weekly time sheet and pay a simple invoice. Invoices can be customized to meet your company's specific needs. Contractor expense reimbursements can also be handled through the payroll department. All employee and employer taxes and withholdings are processed by Top Echelon Contracting according to federal and state guidelines.

Wide range of benefits for contractors
Statistics have proven that employers have greater contractor retention by offering quality benefits. As the legal Employer of Record™, Top Echelon Contracting pays contract employees on a weekly basis (direct deposit is available) and offer the following optional benefits:

  • Medical insurance
  • Dental insurance
  • Vision Insurance
  • Life Insurance
  • 401(k) savings plan
  • Disability insurance
